SBA Disaster Loans: Loans Available After Hurricanes Fiona & Ian

In response to the devastation of Hurricanes Fiona in Puerto Rico and Ian in Florida, SBA (The U.S. Small Business Administration) Disaster Loans are now available.

The SBA created loans to assist in the event of a disaster for homeowners, renters, non-profit organizations, and businesses of all sizes impacted by Hurricanes Fiona and Ian.

Types of Loans Available

  • Residential Disaster Loans – Loans for homeowners or tenants to repair/replace disaster-damaged real estate and personal property, including automobiles.
  • Physical Disaster Business Loans – Business loans to repair/replace disaster-damaged property owned by the business; including real estate, inventory, supplies, machinery, and equipment. Businesses of all sizes are eligible, including private non-profit organizations such as charities, private universities, etc.
  • Economic Disaster Loans (EIDL) – Working capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private non-profit organizations that meet financial obligations that cannot be filled as a direct result of the hurricane. These loans are meant to help through the disaster recovery period.

HURRICANE FIONA

On September 19, Hurricane Fiona hit the island of Puerto Rico as a category 1 hurricane causing considerable damage to the island.

Areas Eligible for Loans

The entire Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is eligible for SBA disaster assistance from Hurricane Fiona.

Deadlines for Submitting Loan Applications:

  • Physical damage: November 21, 2022
  • Economic damage: June 21, 2023

HURRICANE IAN

On September 24, President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration for the state of Florida ahead of Hurricane Ian. On Wednesday, September 28, hurricane Ian hit the state of Florida as a category 4 hurricane.

Contiguous Florida counties eligible for economic injury loans are:

  • Highlands

  • Lake
  • Miami-Dade
  • Monroe
  • Okeechobee
  • Pasco
  • Sumter
  • Volusia

Deadlines for submitting loan applications:
